Bottle Cap Christmas Tree Ornament

Make a cute christmas tree ornament from recycled bottle caps! Add sparkle and pizazz with sequins and acrylic jewels!

Materials


  • Natural Braiding Cord
  • Acrylic Paint Jars, 24 Assorted colors
  • Gold Sequins
  • 11 Bottle Caps
  • Hot Glue Gun ***May Require Adult Assistance

Instructions


Step 1. Gather your supplies.

 

Step 2.

 

Paint or collect (10) green bottle caps.

 

Step 3.

 

Glue together (3) bottle caps in a triangle shape.

 

Step 4.

 

To properly align the next row of caps, start by gluing a cap in the middle of the two from the row above.

 

Step 5.

 

Add two caps on the side of the cap from Step 4, then glue two more bottle caps in the middle of the caps from the previous row, as shown.

 

Step 6.

 

Glue two more bottle caps to the corners to complete the christmas tree.

 

Step 7.

 

Paint a bottle cap brown for the trunk of the tree.

 

Step 8.

 

Glue the brown bottle cap in the middle of the bottom row.

 

Step 9.

 

Decorate your christmas tree as desired using acrylic jewels and sequins. We used a star shaped acrylic jewel for the top of our tree.

 

Step 10.

 

Cut a piece of natural cording and fold in half.

 

Step 11.

 

Slide the two ends through the hole in the top row.

 

Step 12.

 

Wrap around to the back and slide the two ends through the loop of the string.

 

Step 13.

 

Pull & add knot the two ends to create a loop. Hang in your tree!
