Jeweled Sun Picture Frame
Use Mini Wood Sticks and Acrylic Jewels to make a bright and unique shaped picture frame.
Step 1. Gather your supplies.
Turn your cup upside down and place in the center of your foam plate. Using your pencil, trace around the edge of the cup.
Cut out the circle.
Turn your cup right side up and place in the middle of the cut foam circle. Trace around the edge of the cup.
Glue one end of a Mini Craft Stick against the edge of the smaller traced circle, with the other end hanging off the foam, as shown. This will be one ray from the sun.
To make the rest of the sun, continue gluing Mini Craft Sticks around the foam circle. Use the traced circle as a guide for placing the sticks.
Paint the Mini Craft Sticks yellow, and let dry.
Turn your cup upside down and place on your yellow foam sheet. Using your pencil trace around the edge of the cup. Tip: place the cup close to the edge of the foam, so that you will be able to save and use the rest of the foam sheet in a future project.
Flip the cup over and center the bottom of the cup in the center of the circle and trace the edge of the cup.
Cut out the foam large foam circle first, then the inside foam circle. You will have a circle frame, as shown. Tip- When cutting the middle circle, gently fold the foam in half and make your initial cut from the center, just like you see on step 8 of this telescope project.
Place your yellow foam frame on your picture. Adjust the
placement of the frame, so that your photo will look nice in the
opening. Trace around the outer edge of the frame with a pencil. Then cut out the shape.
Glue the frame onto the picture.
Glue the frame with the picture in the center of your yellow sun.
To decorate your frame, glue Acrylic Jewels around the sun. We picked out gold and clear Jewels to accent the yellow sun.
To finish your frame, you can add a magnetic button to the back, so that you can hang the frame on the refrigerator.
