Materials

Instructions

Step 1. Gather your supplies.

Step 2.

Cut open a paper lunch bag and remove the bottom.

Step 3.

Fold the flattened paper bag in half and draw the outline of a body.

Step 4.

Keep folded and cut out the body, to make two identical bodies.

Step 5.

Staple the two bodies together around the edges, but be sure to leave an open space so you can stuff the scarecrow with poms!

Step 6.

Stuff the scarecrow full of poms, then staple him closed.

Step 7.

Cut a shirt out for the scarecrow. Use the completed puppet body to make sure it’s the right size.

Step 8.

Glue the shirt onto the scarecrow. Glue (2) wiggly eyes to his face.

Step 9.

Cut out a pair of overalls. Cut a zig zag pattern across the bottom of the pant legs so they appear to be worn. Use the scarecrows body to make sure it’s the right size.

Step 10.

Glue the overalls to the scarecrows body.

Step 11.

Cut a cardboard tube in half and then cut up the sides of the tubes, so they are open as shown.

Step 12.

Cut 1/4″ slits into the bottom of each tube.

Step 13.

Staple both pieces of cardboard together.

Step 14.

Fit the hat around the head of the scarecrow and staple. Cut off any excess cardboard.

Step 15.

Paint the hat with brown watercolor.

Step 16.

Create a flower out of (1) yellow fuzzy stick.

Step 17.

Glue the flower to the hat and add a mini orange pony bead as the flowers center.

Step 18.

Glue the finished hat to the scarecrow.

Step 19.

Wrap a piece of cording in half, over and over again.

Step 20.

Cut the loops on each end of the wrapped cording.

Step 21.

Cut the group of cording in half.

Step 22.

Glue the pieces of cording under the hat and under the scarecrow’s sleeves, to replicate hay.

Step 23.

Tape your scarecrow to a wooden dowel to stick in a potted plant or just have on display!
