  • Plaster of Paris 4 lb.
  • Jumbo Craft Sticks
  • Cup of Water
  • Large Plastic Tub Filled with Slightly Damp Sand
  • Seashells
  • Shoe Box Lid or Shallow Box
  • Craft Glue

Instructions

Step 1. Gather your supplies.

Step 2.

Step barefoot in the sand to create a foot print.  Press some sand against the sides of your foot to make a nice deep footprint.

Step 3.

Prepare your plaster of paris mixture. Click here to learn more about mixing plaster of paris. Gently pour some plaster into the footprint.  Let the plaster set for at least an hour.

Step 4.

While you are waiting for the plaster to set, paint the inside of the shoe box lid. Let dry.

Step 5.

Once the plaster has set, carefully remove the plaster footprint from the sand. It might be necessary to dig around the edges into the sand, to loosen the plaster.

Step 6.

Turn over the footprint and use a brush to remove the excess sand.  Some sand will remain on the footprint.

Step 7.

Glue the plaster footprint and shells inside the painted box lid.

Step 8.

Finish the project by painting the phrase “My Footprint in the Sand”. Display on the wall or window sill.
