Use a resist-art technique and sensory materials to frame all your favorite Fourth of July memories!

  • Picture-Perfect Patriotism: Using tape helps your students stay in the lines while painting, which hones their fine motor skills. For extra motor practice, have them carefully peel the tape themselves to reveal the clean, straight lines!
  • Star-Spangled Senses: What other sensory fun can your students add to the wood surface along with the sparkly foam stars? Ask your class to mix and match their favorite foil stars and patriotic craft pack embellishments! Which ones will they choose — and why?

Looking for more texture? Have younger students paint the frame with sponge dabbers to create a marbled resist-art design. Or give older students other materials like red, white, blue adhesive gemstones to embellish the surface, or friendship thread to wrap around the frame.
