Kwanzaa Key Chain
Create this braided key chain craft using the traditional holidays of Kwanzaa of red, green, yellow and black.
- Black Pony Beads
- Craft Glue
- Key Chain Clip
Step 1. Gather your supplies.
Tie (1) green, (1) red and (1) yellow Shoe Lace Cord to the ring on the Key Chain Clip. Tip – you might find it helpful to attach the Key Chain Clip onto a book bag or clipboard to help stabilize the project while you craft.
Separate out your strands from left to right as follows: green, red, yellow. Cross the left strand (green) over the center strand (red).
Thread (1) black Pony Bead on the now centered strand (green).
Cross the right strand (yellow) over the center strand (green). You have just completed one round of a braid.
To create this braided bead design follow this pattern, cross the left strand over the center strand, thread a bead on the center strand, then cross the right strand over the center strand and repeat. Let’s complete another round to make sure you have the hang of it. Cross the left strand (red) over the center strand (yellow).
Thread (1) black Pony Bead on the center strand (red).
Cross the right strand (green) over the center strand (red).
Repeat this braiding and beading pattern for the length desired.
Once you are at your desired length, tie a knot with all three Shoe Lace Cords.
Use scissors to trim cords.
To keep your cords from fraying, dab a little bit of glue onto the ends and roll in your fingers. You have now created a unique braided keychain with the colors of Kwanzaa!
