Lacing Exercise for Preschoolers

Practice hand-eye coordination with your preschooler, while creating these adorable laced shapes using Friendship Thread.
Materials
- Card Stock
- Scissors
- Hole Punch
- Masking Tape
Instructions
Step 1. Gather your supplies. |

Step 2. Click the “template” button under the completed photo of this project above to download and print the lacing template seen here. |

Step 3. Cut out the shapes. |
|
Step 4. Using the shaded circles on the template as a guide, punch holes around the shape. |
|
Step 5. Decorate and color the shape. We used oil pastels. |
|
Step 6. Cut a 24 inch piece of Friendship Thread. Tip: Wrap a small piece of masking tape around one end of the cord, this will make the lacing easier. |

Step 7. Lace one end of the Thread through one hole on the shape. |
|
Step 8. Tie the end of the Thread to the hole to secure it. |
|
Step 9. Bring the Thread from behind the shape, up through the second hole to begin the lacing action. |
|
Step 10. Take the Thread and lace it through the third hole as shown. |
|
Step 11. Repeat the lacing, going in through one hole and back through the next one, until you have completed lacing the whole heart. |
|
Step 12. Tie the loose end of thread to the last hole and trim off the excess thread. |
|
Step 14. Color and thread the remaining shapes. |
