Make Your Own Memory Game
Improve your child’s memory skills with a do-it-yourself memory game using foam stamps and paper scraps!
- Glitter Shakers Mega Pack
- Craft Glue
- Glue Stick
- Scrap paper
- Small paper plate
Step 1. Gather your supplies.
Using the glue stick, apply glue to a white piece of Construction Paper. Be sure to cover the whole paper, not just the edges.
Glue the white Paper to a blue piece of Paper.
Cut the white and blue Paper into 2 inch squares, you will need at least 12 squares. Tip: Use a pencil and ruler to ensure the pieces are all the same size. That is important for this game!
Pour some craft glue on the plate. Gently press one of the foam stamps into the glue, making sure its completely covered in glue. Press the stamp on a new area of the plate several times to remove excess glue. You do not want clumps of glue on the stamp.
Press the glue covered Stamp on the white side of one of the cut squares.
Place your stamped card on a piece of scrap paper. Gently shake glitter on the stamped card. Shake off the excess glitter from the card onto the scrap paper. Tip: fold the paper to funnel the glitter back into the container.
Repeat Steps 5-7 with the same foam stamp to make a matching card.
Stamp 8 more cards in matching pairs. Tip: you can use the same stamp for more than one pair, making sure to use a different color glitter. Allow your pieces to dry.
To play the game, have your preschooler place all the cards with the blue side up. Then have them turn over one card at a time to try and find the matching cards. Use these pieces to strengthen their memory skills!
