Materials

Instructions

Step 1. Gather your supplies.

Step 2

Step 2

Dye a large amount of wagon wheels, mini wagon wheels and mini peace sign pasta blue. Check out our "Pasta Dying" tutorial to learn how to dye pasta.

Step 3

Step 3

Begin by gluing wagon wheels in this pattern on the top of the beach ball. We used a large tea cup to hold our ball steady.

Step 4

Step 4

After you complete the top, you will find it's difficult to follow a pattern. Simply fill in the spaces as best you can as you go around. Once you are halfway done, flip it over to make it easier to cover the other half in pasta. Once you've reached this point, stop.

Step 5

Step 5

Deflate the ball as much as you can and pull it out carefully from the pasta sphere. We made sure that the ball wasn't glued to the pasta before we pulled it out.

Step 6

Step 6

Complete the sphere.

Step 7

Step 7

Paint the continents on the globe with green paint.

Step 8

Step 8

Once the paint is dry, cover the green areas in decoupage glue.

Step 9

Step 9

Pour glitter onto the decoupaged areas.

Celebrate Earth Day with a pasta-tively fun craft and discover new ways to save our planet!

  • This Day In History: Earth Day started in 1970 — the same year the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency was created! Now, every April 22nd, people all around the world participate in activities like planting trees and picking up litter to show our planet some love! How will your class participate?
  • What a Wonderful World: There’s still so much to explore on Earth! In fact, scientists know more about the surface of the Moon than they do about the oceans’ depths! Spark your students’ interest about our planet by exploring fun facts.

Whether they trade plastic bags for reusable ones, carpool with classmates, or even build a birdhouse — there are so many ways your students can keep the Earth clean! As a class, brainstorm the little ways you can make a huge impact on our environment.
