Jack-O-Lantern Bead Pet

Step  1.

Gather your supplies. 

Step  2.

Cut green cording to 60 inches in length. Stiffen both ends by rolling it between your finger with a dab of craft glue and allow it to dry. (This will help when threading the beads.) 

Step  3.

Create a lark knot on the key ring. To learn how to create a lark knot, click here. To create Row 1, thread 2 green pony beads onto the left string. 

Step  4.

Take your right string and lace back through beads from the other end.

Step  5.

Pull cords tight to form this row of your Jack-O-Lantern bead pet. 

Step  6.

Repeat Steps 4 and 5 to create a second row of green beads for Row 2.

Step  7.

To create row 3, thread the following through the left string: 7 orange pony beads. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 to complete this row.

Step  8.

To create Row 4, thread the following through the left string: 9 orange pony beads. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 to complete this row.

Step  9.

To create Row 5, thread the following through the left string: 2 orange, 1 black, 3 orange, 1 black, and 2 orange pony beads. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 to complete this row.

Step  10.

To create Row 6, thread the following through the left string: 4 orange, 1 black, and 4 orange pony beads.  Repeat Steps 4 and 5 to complete this row.

Step  11.

To create Row 7, complete the same pattern done for Row 5: 2 orange, 1 black, 3 orange, 1 black, and 2 orange pony beads. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 to complete this row.

Step  12.

To create Row 8, thread the following through the left string: 2 orange, 3 black, 2 orange pony beads.  Repeat Steps 4 and 5 to complete this row.

Step  13.

To create Row 9, thread the following through the left string: 5 orange pony beads. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 to complete this row.

Step  14.

To secure your key chain, tie the ends of your cord with a double knot at the end of each row, making sure the knot is snug against the beads. Trim excess thread with scissors. Clip onto your backpack and show off your Jack-O-Lantern bead pet!
