Welcome spring with this adorable bird's nest craft made with simple materials, including a paper plate!

Materials

  • Paint Brushes Triangle Handle
  • Feathers Brown
  • Green Fuzzy Sticks
  • Acrylic Paint Jars, 24 Assorted colors
  • Craft Glue
  • Scissors
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Construction Paper

Instructions

Step 1. Gather your supplies.

Step 2.

Cut a paper plate in half and paint it light brown. Set aside to dry.

Step 3.

Glue two medium sized poms together as shown. The top pom is the bird’s head and the bottom is the body.

Step 4.

Glue Wiggly Eyes and a tiny orange pom on the top pom to form the bird’s face.

Step 5.

To finish the bird, glue brown feathers to the body.

Step 6.

Repeat steps 3-5 to make 2 more birds.

Step 7.

Cut several different sized strips of brown Construction paper.

Step 8.

Arrange the strips of brown paper on a piece of blue Construction paper to make a tree limb, as shown. Once you like the layout, glue the branches to the paper.

Step 9.

Glue the paper plate onto the branch to form the bird’s nest in a tree.

Step 10.

Cut small pieces of Suede Cord and glue to the bird’s nest. This will give some texture to plate and make it look more like a nest.

Step 11.

Cut a green Fuzzy Stick in half and bend together to create a bow shape, as shown.  These will become leaves for the branches. Make at least 6 more of the Fuzzy Stick leaves.

Step 12.

Glue the leaves on the branches. Spread them out and arrange them how you like them.

Step 13.

The last step is to add your birds to the nest. If desired, you can just tuck them in and have interactive play with your nest!
