Sea Urchin & Anemones Canvas Craft

Sea Urchin

Step  1.

Dip your foam brush into different shades of blue, white, and yellow. 

Step  2.

Then, make fun waves all over your canvas!

Step  3.

While your canvas dries, choose two colors for your paper cup.

Step  4.

Use your first color to paint the inside of your cup, and your second color to paint the outside!

Step  5.

After your cup dries completely, use your scissors to cut your sea urchin’s spikes! Cut down to the bottom of your cup — leaving about 1/2 an inch!

Step  6.

Once you’ve cut all the way around your cup, gently press your spikes down.

Step  7.

Use your paintbrush to add fun designs to the center of your sea urchin!

Step  8.

Give your urchin some personality! Glue on your big wiggly eyes, then add a smile.

If you’d like to give your sea urchin some anemone friends, follow the steps below!

Step  9.

Cut your cardboard tube in half.

Step  10.

Then, choose two colors for either half and paint!

Step  11.

While your cardboard tubes dry, take two cupcake liners and fold them into zig-zags. Twist the bottom of the cupcake liner to a point, or use a paperclip to poke a hole through the center.

Step  12.

Repeat the previous step with your second cupcake liner. Twist the two cupcake liners together, or use your paperclip to hold them together!

Step  13.

Stick your cupcake liners into one of your painted cardboard tubes.

Step  14.

Then, add glitter! Paint the tips of cupcake liner with glue, then sprinkle on glitter! Set your first sea anemone friend aside.

Step  15.

Make your second sea anemone friend! Cut your fuzzy sticks to around 4 1/2”.

Step  16.

Then, use the tip of your paint brush to make small twists!

Step  17.

Twist your fuzzy sticks into small groups.

Step  18.

Then place them on top of your other cardboard tube!

Step  19.

Place your anemone friends onto your canvas with your sea urchin, and have some fun — above — the sea!
